Description:

REDUCED !! Talk about the ultimate rare bird!!! This is definitely it... a back country cabin at the 7,600 foot elevation in Heart Meadows near the Buck Rock Lookout and Big Meadows. This is one of only 10 cabins in a premier wilderness area. Here's a chance to get a few creature comforts in a primitive environment.

The 2 story cabin was built in 1952 as a hunting cabin. It is sited on a 20 year renewable Forest Service lease parcel (presently in its 10th year). The lease is $1,700 per year and there has never been any issue with renewing (Forest Service sends the renewal in the mail).

The cabin has a living room w/masonry fireplace, kitchen and bathroom w/shower at ground level with an upstairs two section loft for two bedrooms. The cabin does have running water (provided by a spring with storage tank) and electricity. There is a nice sitting deck and an outdoor rock BBQ pit for grilling and nighttime fireside chats under a canopy of stars that must be seen to be believed. Heart Meadows does have gated access only for the 10 cabins. This is rustic living at its best in one of the prettiest spots on the planet.

Downsides? Accessibility in the winter is problematic at best. Snow depths can exceed 10 feet and more. You could snowmobile in but only the roof of the cabin might be visible. The deck is removable for winter storage. The lease is a bit of an issue, but not much. These cabins have been here for many decades and the situation is not likely to change. And, that accounts for the extremely affordable price. Be prepared for a lengthy trip up from the valley. This is a remote area. But, the views are awesome and when you get here all the taints of civilization get washed away.

Here's your opportunity to purchase a family heirloom to be passed down through the generations. This certainly qualifies as one of California's rarest properties. Terms are cash only. But, don't delay. This is a hot commodity and winter is coming.
